Assignment 1
Analysis and program creation - Can create a new program that sythesizes the transition and future values, design-related precedents, and various information about the target and object byu collection and analyzing them.

Assignment 2 Barrier-free design - It can be designed taking into account the needs of various builidng users, including the elderly and the disabled. If there is no elevator in a cultural heritage building, a vertical movement system can be built that takes barrier-free design into consideration along with internal reconstruction.
Assignment 3 Expansion, renovation, and repair design - First, understand the architectural, historical, and cultural preservation value of the existing building. It is possible to design by reviewing various issues such as changing or maintaining the form or function of an exsisting building, such as expansion, renovation, and repair. In particular, It is possible to build a harmonious design based on the relationship between existing and new buildings.

“(IM-)PERMANANCE
If architecture itself is firmly established it will be open to new interventions that keep the building alive…At the same time the idea of “life” that I am proposing here should not be confused with biological metaphors: I speak of a real historical life and not an analog-ical one. The life of buildings resides in the very permanence of their architecture and although it may seem paradoxical, it is only through that permanence that the building lives. It is precisely this permanence -its architectural identity -that permits change.”

- The life of buildings: On the Cordoba Mosque extensions, Rafael MONEO

Rather than understanding architecture as an independent thing, it is a building remodeling project that analyzes/researches (history, symbolism, and other humanistic situations) within the framework of relationships, and includes internal reorganization, expansion/renovation, etc. to accommodate new needs of existing buildings.
Based on analysis of the value, spatial composition, and programs of existing buildings in the surrounding context, we develop design capabilities for the form and spatial composition required for changes in building use, changes and expansion of internal and external spaces, etc.

Ideas and design concepts that can solve the problem are presented, and alternatives are considered and synthesized. In particular, this semester, we will focus on finding a harmonious solution between the old and the new through an expanded concept of remodeling based on cultural heritage. In addition, during this process, we understand the structure and building system of the existing structure and design the expanded building and external space together.

This studio is set in the Jeongdong district, especially Jeongdong-gil, which can be said to be a treasure trove of modern architecture. We ask questions and find current issues about how cultural heritage and buildings can build unique and correct values amid new demands and changes of the times.
